Speaker 1:

All right. So I am talking and just talking and nobody can hear me because I put myself on mic mute. Okay, but welcome to Jam with Alice. I am your host, alice, and I am so excited that you are here. Welcome for a whole new season of Jam with Alice.

Speaker 1:

Special guests, skits, all kinds of things is going on, and I got another surprise for you, too, that I'm going to be talking about later on the show. But right now I have my guest her name who's going to be coming on a little bit later, indie pop singer Dominique Roche, and we're going to be talking about her new solo project, her new album, unbecoming, and I love Unbecoming. All right, because I'm unbecoming. Okay, all right, don't be unbecoming, I don't know, but we're going to find out what they mean. All right, I love this young lady. You have no idea. Listen, if you haven't done so already, please follow, subscribe, like and share. All right, I'm just trying to get myself out there working it out, all right. So what we're going to do right now, we're going to go right into the intro, we're going to come back, we're going to talk about a little bit of the current news, a little bit of the entertainment news.

Speaker 2:

And then we're going to bring Dominique on. How about that? All right, see you in just a bit.

Speaker 1:

Hey, we are back and, if you haven't noticed, I'm back as well. Listen, I am Alice. This is Jam with Alice, and I am on intellectualradiocom. Look, we have a lot, a lot of shows over there. So go to intellectualradiocom. I'm pretty sure you're going to find something that you like. You're watching me, so I know you like me, so go and get the rest on intellectualradiocom. I'm pretty sure you're going to find something that you like. You're watching me, so I know you like me, so go and get the rest on intellectualradiocom. That's where I am All right.

Speaker 1:

All right, listen, we want to go start off with the current news, and what I want to do right now is sending out love and prayers to all in California. Those California fires are just getting totally out of hand and so many people have lost their lives, lost their homes. It's just sad. If you can donate it doesn't have to be money, we don't have it Just go ahead and send them something. I donated a little something today just to send over that to them, because they're going to need it and I'm pretty sure if we were in the same position, we will want somebody to help them. Biden, he did send out what he said. He announced that he's going to be sending out $770 checks for the residents that was impacted by the California fires. Now it may not sound like a lot, but in hindsight, when you have nothing, literally have nothing, it's a whole lot, all right, so all right. So just sending the love and the prayers. California, everyone in California, listen. Okay, next week, on Martin Luther King's birthday, president elect, trump, elected Trump, will take the office. Okay, so that's enough of that right there, let's move on.

Speaker 1:

Okay, congratulations go out to Sandeia and Tom Holland. Listen, I am a big Tom Holland fan. I love Sandeia too, but I love Spider-Man. I love anything Marvel. I'm telling you anything Marvel. I have watched Avengers like a thousand times already on Disney. I'm telling you anything Marvel. I have watched Avengers like a thousand times already on Disney. I would never get rid of Disney because I watch all of them, all. Captain America, you know, they're bringing back what's the guy named that played in Iron man? They're bringing him back. I am loving him. He's playing a different character. He's supposed to be a meanie.

Speaker 1:

Okay, congratulations to Zunzea and Tom Holland. They are officially engaged. Okay, they got engaged. What? Last week or over the holidays, or something like that.

Speaker 1:

And then the rumors are that Common and Jennifer Hudson are engaged. Now. I have not heard it come out of his mouth. I have not heard it come out of her mouth Now. I do remember him saying that Jennifer Hudson is the marrying type and I do remember her saying that they are taking their time. But I think they are so cute together. Yes, they are, and I want to be on Jennifer Hudson's show.

Speaker 1:

So y'all may hear me say her name a whole lot during my shows. Right, because I want to walk down that little hallway where they be doing a little my shows. Right, because I want to walk down that little hallway where they be doing a little dancing and they singing. So I want my own song. I want to walk down that aisle. That's what I want to do, all right. And if I was in the studio, ms Dominique would be walking down the aisle dancing to my song. That's right. All right, all right.

Speaker 1:

So let's get on with get on, get on, get off. Listen, if you're looking to start a business for 2025, get up off your butt and go do it. All right. Don't let next year, at the same time saying I'm going to do it this year, just do it. It's just like doing a YouTube or starting your video. Like me, right, I wouldn't got a backdrop. I'm using my phone and I'm like, hey, listen, just get up and go and do it. All right, cause if you don't, you never will. All right, I have some ideas that you can actually do.

Speaker 1:

Um, some of the ideas is health and wellness seem to be popular. I actually do some of the health. I now put some of the links down on YouTube or Facebook or wherever you're watching Instagram later. But you can do health and wellness. I do the CTFO, changing the future of outcome, and they have all natural products. I really love it. One of the ones that they actually have is the Exhilarate If you drink those energy drinks. This one is so much better because you don't have the crash afterwards. Yeah, no, you don't have the crash.

Speaker 1:

You can also do digital marketing. You could do the eBooks. You can do the instruction sheet and sell them for a dollar. To do the eBooks, five, $10. I have my own book that I do, the power of words. Okay, um, and I and I love a book, so you can get my book on Amazon. All right, um, the power of words, alice Boswell and I got some other books on there and journals as well, um. And then the third thing that you can add to do that I love to do, um is drop shipping. Yeah, now, the one that I use for drop shipping for t-shirts. I use Printful. Yeah, I love Printful and it works well for me and my website. So those are some of the ideas that you can, and if you want to start your own channel, just get up and do it.

Speaker 1:

One follower, two followers they're going to constantly grow. I was at 135, 135 followers about a month ago. Now I'm like at 270. So, be consistent and do what you have to do. Listen, you can dream all you want to, all right, listen to me, you could dream all you want to, but dreams do not work unless you do. You got to get up off your butt and you got to go and do it, and that goes for me too, all right.

Speaker 1:

So, with that being said, dang, I went through my little speech a little fast, didn't I? Yeah, I did. I did my whole monologue in a quick, quick second, all right. So, listen, we are going to bring on Dominique. Dominique, are you ready? Give me a thumbs up, dominique, if you're ready. Look, this is the most happiest girl I have ever met in my life. I wish she was my daughter. She's just happy, happy, happy. But we're going to bring Miss Dominique on up and hey, how you doing Miss Lane, hey, alice, how you doing, girl, how you doing Great. So do that little hair for Unbecoming. Go ahead, do it for me One time. Unbecoming, yes, listen, we got so much to talk about. Thank you for joining me. I know we have done this before and thanks for having us come back, no problem, no problem.

Speaker 1:

Um, I saw that you were at the city winery. I got questions for you. But that is a young lady. Look at you, you are stepping up. How was that experience? It was a good experience. I was crazy, as I was the first act, so I had to set the tone for the rest of the show. It was a showcase that I did with a good friend of mine. That helped me get on the show. I auditioned and everything they liked liked it and it was like, hey, come to the showcase. So that's what happened. Look at you, look at you, just you just getting on. I said we are happy, all right, so let's go into your album, all right. Um, well, let's start off with you.

Speaker 1:

What inspired you to make a switch? Because most of you all who don't know miss dominique was a gospel singer in a group. So what made you do the switch to an indie pop singer? Yeah, so I made the switch because I feel like that. Why do we have to be in a box If we have multi-genre music and God is a multifaceted God, why can't we be multifaceted? So let's be out of the box, okay. So I feel like I I can do each genre and I'm trying each genre as I go along and I'm finding out like, okay, yeah, this is kind of fun. So, yeah, I want to test my limits and go beyond that. So, yeah, that's why I made the switch. Nothing bad or anything. God is still my god. Okay, let's get that straight, he's still in my but I wanted to do more than that.

Speaker 1:

so, yeah, oh, very good. And what is your favorite genre right now? Because I know you rap and I know you sing and you can believe me, I went to her um release party. Yeah, so the girl can sing and she can, she can rap, she can do both. She's she's multi-titled it.

Speaker 2:

So what's your favorite?

Speaker 1:

My favorite right now is the R&B side. The R&B side. I'm in between R&B and pop, but right now it's R&B. And who do you want to work with? Ooh, r&b. And who do you want to work with, oh, uh, r&b. Uh, maybe number one could be like brandy. Second, fantasia, third, um, chris brown, like it's a long list. So nothing, you have to say it, you have to speak it, you have to put it out there into the absolutely the universe got to hear what you want for sure, for sure, right, all right.

Speaker 1:

So, um, how is it different from being a gospel singer to pop singer? Now, how, how's it different? The difference because you were in a group, right, yes, yeah, yeah, I was with in a, uh, crystal group. It was called for short atdl, but it was called after the due order. Um, the difference between that and being a pop singer, I feel like when it comes to like Christian contemporary and gospel, you have to stay in that and it's hard to break out of that when people see you established with that per se and because I'm not yet mainstream. Um, yeah, you may have known me from a Christian contemporary background, but, um, I'm moving forward. I want to be established as multifaceted, so I want to go ahead and break the difference and and and be pop beap.

Speaker 1:

You know anything else after that? Edm, indian, like I, will learn different languages. I'm all for it. Like Spanish, I'm here, I'm coming for it, all OK, what?

Speaker 1:

What theme messages? What theme or messages can listeners expect from Unbecoming? All right, so this is your first solo album. So you wrote pretty much the whole album yourself, right? Pretty much, yeah, me and my husband and another artist, terrell Rayshon, as well as J Donnell Jamari Parrish for his government name. But yeah, I had help, but mostly, yes me, okay, and what kind of theme can we expect from your, from Unbecoming, when they go and listen to it?

Speaker 1:

So, overall, as far as Unbecoming is concerned, the theme is like happy-go-lucky it's okay to be weird and just happy and bubbly, just happy bubbly, and I love it. I love it. I'm actually going to play your video, which I have to edit it in, at the end of Unbecoming. I love it. I like that song, I really do. Thank you, it grows on you. You're like yeah, yeah, it comes out the gate like pew, yeah, definitely. In what ways do you hope your music will resonate with your previous gospel music audience or to your new audience? Oh for sure, um, I hope it resonates with people that, like I said before, it's okay to be yourself it's okay to authentically be yourself.

Speaker 1:

Uh, if you want to be weird, be weird. Everybody is weird. First of all, in in in the bible it said god made us. We were fearfully and wonderfully made. He didn't say we were all made the same, right. So it's okay to be yourself. You don't have to copy anybody. It's okay to be yourself, that. But that's what I want to have resonate with everybody, because we live in a world where they tell you what you need to, what to be, how to dress, what to do, things of that sort. Have your own mind, speak for yourself and create and be whoever it is that you desire to be hands down, and so that tells me that I'm becoming. You can't come up with that title man, because I'm becoming.

Speaker 1:

This is your song is definitely about being yourself. Yeah, yes, I'm. Even though it's looked at from a negative light, I'm switching it and making it a positive, because all the things that people may have told you, the things that you may have accepted or being negative, we're going to unbecome that. We're going to unravel that coil that was made and unravel that and just become something new. You're going to be that worm, that caterpillar, going to that cocoon and come out as something totally brand new, a butterfly. What can we look forward to in the future? Oh yeah, so yeah, I have, actually, I have about maybe two to three songs that's coming out real, real soon, real real soon. So look out for that on my page I'll share that very soon. So I have that coming up. I'm getting ready Actually I have a rehearsal right after this to record a show, whether it's a show or a movie, but I'm into acting, so I do that, and then I'll be doing some covers, some sheet mixes and I'll be coming up with that. So look out for that, all right, all right.

Speaker 1:

Well, talking about your album, you said got some more music coming up. What's your favorite on the album? That's hard to say, because I like them all, they're all. I think the, the one that resonates the most, is unbecoming, and then, um, supposed to be, and that's only an interlude, that's, that's not even a full song. It's supposed to be, I think, uh, resonates more as far as me is concerned, okay, and what does what, what, what, what do you want your legacy to look like?

Speaker 1:

Creative? I know we associate, um, everything as far as the rainbow like. I like colors, rainbow colors. I know that's associated sort of with the LGBTQ plus and I QI plus, but I want people to think of me as multifaceted and multicolored, because I like colors and it's okay to be yourself. So that's my legacy Be yourself, be you, be you, be you. You have to be you and that is the truth. Listen, I'm becoming okay, I love that, I really do. I love that title. You have no idea, I love that title, but I'm becoming has become described as the anthem of liberation and transformation.

Speaker 1:

Can you talk about the personal stories behind um, um, the standout track, unbecoming, and my hair? Because y'all have to, oh, my god, you all have to listen to my hair, okay, yeah, yes, yes, yes, that is a staple. My hair, for sure, because, listen, I just had a bob last week and now I got stitch braids. Look, listen, okay, all right, but yeah, um, I'm becoming, let's get into it.

Speaker 1:

So I went through some things as far as in my past that I feel like that I no longer desire to go through, because one of the things was when you grow up in a world, in a society, where they say, oh, you can't be a musician, you're not going to make money doing that, oh, you can't be a musician. You're not gonna make money doing that. Yes, you can if you work at it. Yes, you can if you meet the right people. Yes, you can. And, and I feel like my dreams were put on hold because, uh, uh, people thought that I should just make sure that I get a career that's gonna pay the bills.

Speaker 1:

We don't grow up in life just working. You know, um, like, like slaves, like that's that's going to pay the bills. We don't grow up in life just working, you know, like slaves, like that's not our purpose in life. We were not here, we were not put in this earth to be slaves and just work a nine to five, day to day. We have a purpose in life and that's what I'm trying to do. So that's what I'm purposing to do. First of all, let's change my words. That's what I'm purposing to do. First of all, let's change my words. Um, but I'm becoming.

Speaker 1:

I went through that Um and I accepted that Um, and then people would try growing up. People try to um shelter or put a uh, uh, you know the candle where you put a bushel over it and the light goes dim. Try to put a dim on my light. And as far as singing. So I will tell you right now like I don't think that I'm 100% confident as far as singing is concerned, but I can sing. But I feel like I'm more multifaceted in my rapping and I can be more creative in that vein. So it's kind of my singing is like but other people's like, why do do it? Why Do it, do it, do it, don't be afraid to do it. So I'm like, okay, I'm going to step out and unbecome all those things that people said that I couldn't, could not do, and go for it. And you know what I like.

Speaker 1:

What you said about dreams and you out there working I think I mentioned it in my monologue in the beginning you can dream all you want to, but if you don't get out there and work those dreams, they're just going to always be dreams. You have to get out, you have to want to do it and be consistent in what you do. Learn your craft. That's what you're supposed to do, for sure. So what do you have coming up next and before we start that part, what do you have coming up next and before we start that part?

Speaker 1:

But if you just joining in, I am Alice Boswell and this is jam with Alice on intellectual radiocom and I have my guest in the pop singer, dominique Borshay, and she's going to answer a question for me. She know I'm going to take her through the ringer about this name. All right, she knows it. All right, she knows it All right. So now, what do you have coming up next? Yes, so I have about two to three songs that's getting ready to drop very, very soon. I'm looking to drop one, possibly this week.

Speaker 2:

I believe.

Speaker 1:

And then another one right before Valentine's Day to get everybody in the mood of love, and that's the next thing that's on the agenda. And then, right after that, I'm going to be doing some cover songs that I'm going to flip Okay, some oldies and turn them into newbies. I can't wait. I cannot wait Now. Everybody know that I am so excited about your name. So it's Dominique. I say Dominique Borochet. She told me that's how I'm supposed to pronounce it. That's the American way, that's the.

Speaker 1:

American way. That's the American way. Y'all we about to get fancy up in here. So I'm ready. I'm ready for my lesson. Okay, let's talk about your name. Okay, the, the last name. We already know what Dominique is. No, boroshe, where does it come from and how do you pronounce it? Okay, so it's Boroshe. So it's my husband's last name. It's Nigerian and it's French, and what it means is because I had to look it up last time you asked me crown like crown of glory, because with my name and that name, that's what it means. So I was like oh yes, some royalty.

Speaker 1:

Hello, Wear it. Yeah, borisha Day. So yes, borisha Day, borisha Day, see, look at y'all, I'm all fancy. Borisha Day, borisha Day, you got. See, look at y'all, I'm all fancy. You got to do a song on that one, honey. You have any events coming up? Not at the moment, not yet, see, but you have to tell them where they can find you and I will make sure the information is down in the description, you all. As you can see my page on facebook, instagram, tiktok, if it's still here, um, it's at official official dominique. You can see it right here under my name, um, as well, as I have a website, officialdominiquecom, and you can reach me there as well. Uh, fill out the form and book me and you can get in contact with me like that.

Speaker 1:

So, either way, send me a direct message, however you want. And, okay, we're winding down. So we're getting to the part where you actually going to mentor to other people and you could mentor to someone else who's getting in the business. What would you? What advice would you give them? Ooh, tough skin, because the music industry is no joke. So, uh, you definitely gotta have tough skin. That's one. Um. Second, stay consistent. Um. Third, know your worth. Um. Fourth, be you. I'll leave it at that, all right. Well, I'm surprised you didn't, you didn't, you didn't say have a good support team. Definitely, have a support team, like family, whether it's family or friends support team. For sure. You need the support because it's going to be moments where you like oh, what do you mean? I'm tired, it's not working. These, these facebook and instagram posts, it's not gaining what I needed to gain, it's not doing what I needed to do. You need that support system. Keep going, keep going, keep pushing. You gotta keep going. Yes, you need support yes.

Speaker 1:

Listen, I want to thank you for joining me again. Alright, you have the most bubbly personality and I wish you the most success in the whole wide world. Look at her. You got rehearsal tonight. You say yes, ma'am, in 30 minutes, in 30 minutes, and I'm going to tell you her support system, which is her husband. I know for one. He's everywhere with her period, right, I have a video you all going to see it up.

Speaker 1:

When she did the city winery and her cousin I think that was your cousin he like yeah, yeah, so, yeah, all right, look so what we learned from here. If you have dreams, he's like yeah, yeah, yeah, so, yeah, all right, look so what we learned from here. If you have dreams, you're going to have to be like Dominique and you're going to have to work them. You're going to have to be consistent and get you a nice, steady group of people that can hug you when you're thinking you can't do it. You can do it. Yes, ma'am, yes, lawyer, that's it, that's it, that's it. Listen, we're going to get ready to get out of here. Once again, I want to thank Dominique Boruchet. Did I say it correctly? Boruchet or Boruchet Boruchet? Thank you, dominique Boruchet, for stopping by talking to us.

Speaker 1:

She's going to be back because she's dropping three songs. She's got to come back and perform For sure. I need a new video out of her. All right, listen. I also. I know I mentioned at the beginning that I got a special announcement. I produced a show called Chicago Girlfriends so many years ago and we were on Intellectual Radio, which I changed the name over to CGF Entertainment. So now we're going to be back. Now we're not going to be on IntellectualRadiocom, we're going to be back. Now we're not going to be on intellectualradiocom, but we are coming back. So look for that to come up. Cgf Entertainment with Alice and T-Bizzle. It's going to be hot. It's going to be different. You're going to like it. Listen, we're going to get ready to get out of here. I hope to see you next week Again.
